Cool King® “Hawaiian Delight” Sorbet Advertisement

I definitely have an affinity for things related to island life. Something has always called me. Specifically how Hawaii was portrayed in mid-century popular culture.

With this advertisement, I riffed off my sentiment of nostalgia. In some ways it’s my homage to how the co-opt of a culture (i.e. the Tiki movement that became popular in the 50s) can actually create its own hybrid that is equally revered.

Isn’t it interesting how as time passes, what was known as “pop culture” is now what comes to mind for most as historical fact?
