Here’s the third installment of Cool King’s 2022 holiday campaign.

In creating this motion graphic, I found out the song “Peppermint Twist” by Joey Dee and the Starliters.

As the song topped the charts in 1961, it was part of a massively popular dance trend that outraged the a certain sect of the nation’s conservative population — calling it’s style of movement “indecent” and “morally degrading”.

The “Twist” phenomenon was even singled out by President Eisenhower with a dire warning to not allow this indecency to enter the limits of social acceptance.

Oh how the pendulum has swung toward a different definition of what is “acceptable” within the majority.
