Cool King® “Very Cherry Amaretto” Almond Milk Yogurt Promotional Video and Flavor Card

Cool King® called asking for my input on a new healthy minded option that would use non-dairy, plant based “Almond Milk Yogurt” as the foundation.

I went on the hunt for sweet combinations that included almonds and settled on the idea of developing a “Cherry Amaretto” flavor.

To promote the concoction, I came up with the name “Very Cherry Amaretto”. I felt adding the rhyming “Very” fit the jovial, light hearted nature of Cool King’s brand.

For the art direction of the , I felt the flavor profile and name lent to elements of old and new. “Cherry Amaretto” is a classic flavor that has stood the test of time, so I used fonts and a graphic styling that could not be personified by an era — a style that could of originated in 1943 or 2023.

For the flavor card and video, I developed the graphic elements in Adobe Illustrator, and animated the video in CapCut.

For the sound design, I sampled a song titled “Cherry” by Chromatics.

Back in the heyday of “Blog Music” in the 2000s, I frequently visited blogs like “Valerie Collective” and “Italians Do It Better” to find new sounds. They focused on a retro, synth wave sound, and showcased artists like “College”, “Breakbot”, and “Glass Candy”. This introduced interest into acts produced by Johnny Jewel, and his compilation album “After Dark“.

When the flavor was given the green light, I immediately knew the song to sample.

From there, I composed the graphics, moulded the soundscape, compiled both into the video, and wrote the short dialog for the post.
